But now I realize why my prof. in college were beating their own drums who shifted from corporate to academic profession. No wonder why they shifted (For how many years can they bluff).

Guruskool Music

Last sunday I had been to this place, called - "Guruskool Music" about 8 kms on first right off Mangalore road, approx 30 kms from Majestic. Its a lonely place completely on the outskirts of the city, on a village track.

It is run by an individual - Mr.Gopal Navale with the help of some of his friends. Guruskool Music is basically a talent hunt kind of place, where any one can go and voluntarily present their skills in anything related to music. First week of every month, they conduct an event - "Freedom Jam", called so because entry is free and participation is free. These events are conducted in the city. Major fests are held at Guruskool Music. They also help one identify their area of interest in the world of music and guide them in learning those things at a very nominal fee.

This months Freedom Jam is being held on 8th Jan near Contonment.

Yesterday I had been to Belgaum on Official work. It was like having committed a crime to survive there without a two wheeler. Had been to VTU, which is around 17km away from Central Bus Terminus. Had to wait for one hour for the bus and again to come back, had to wait for 2 hours "standing" in the campus for the bus. There were no autos either.

The frequency of buses is very less. Belgaum Infrastructure sucks....

Last sunday while shopping in Bangalore Central, i happened to see my first love after almost 6 years. Both of us happened to see eachother at the same time. She was standing on the other end of the rack with her M - in - law, she was married. We looked into eachothers eyes for a few seconds and then she turned away and left. I was standing there, looking at her till she disapeared into the crowd.

A could experience a sort of chillness that ran through my body. I left the place and returned home silently with only the old memories that were coming back to my mind.

...though the first 4 are a quite old, I happened to see them as my friends suggested and surprisingly the movie "The blue lagoon" was suggested by one of my prof.

Last Friday and Saturday we were at Capitol Hotel with our GM-Sales, who had come down from Mumbai to review the targets for this quarter.

The meeting started at 9.30 in the morning and ended late at 10.30 in night and later we had cocktail dinner and reached home at 11.30pm. Since the meeting had not been completed, next day we were back at 9.00 in the morning to resume the meeting, which ended at 1.00pm.

He wanted only numbers on the slide and he is dam good in numbers. He orally multiplies and divides the figures which are in crores and millions. He has worked in treasury for 5 years and lives in & out with numbers.

Today morning i had been to Koramangala railway ticket booking office to check the status of my ticket to Bombay, which was in waiting list. A women in front of me at the touch screen kiosk had a kid in hand, kids stuff and her vanity bag. To make herself confortable she asked me to have her kid for sometime. I had nothing to say and took the kid. I dont feel comfortable with kids and here i had to have some unknown kid in hand. I thought it would cry and piss off on my clothes but to my surprise it was quiet and rather it played in my hands, holding my shirt pocket and the pen in it.

Hhmm... Felt good after that.

Traffic on Mysore road is very sick. I had to ride on first gear for almost 2 km. There was no traffic jam, it was the usual traffic density. I wonder how people staying in that area cope with this. Today morning I had been to Rajarajeshwari Nagar, while going I went through Jayanagar and Banashankari but while coming I took the majestic route and had to suffer.

Saturday me and my friends had arranged for a trip and had been to "Hogannekal Falls". An amazing place for one day trips. Nine of us in a Qualis, started at 7:45 in the morning and came back by 8:30 in the night.
Bathing under the waterfall and in the river was a great fun and we all enjoyed. We almost played for 2 hours in the river. Some of my friends had fresh fish fry's, which is very famous at Hogannekal falls.

Me and my friends are at a park near National Games, Koramangala. We are having loads of fun and one of my friends cracks a joke. We all burst into laughter and I am laughing like anything.

All of a sudden I realize something, I take off the blanket to see the watch, its 9:05 in the morning. The exam is starting at 9:30 and am still in bed. I hurry up all my morning activities and somehow reach college on time but without going through what I read the previous night, I screwed up my exam by not finishing the paper in time.

Waiting for the disastrous moment on 30th - the day results will be announced.

Hey, recently I read this about entrepreneurs and their heirs continuing the business over generations. This is similar to what one of my professor says.

It goes with a Marwari saying: "The first generation starts a business, the second generation grows it and the third generation blows it".

Either be it India or USA, the research has found that:
* 40 out of 100 companies die within first five years.
* 39 companies die or be bought by someone else.
* The remaining 21 companies are inherited by the second generation.
* Of the 21 companies, only 3 companies are handed over successfully to the third generation.

Failure rate of first generation = 79%.
Failure rate of second generation = 18%.

Yesterday I watched "Under Siege 2: Dark Territory". Its an action-thriller movie. Amazingly this is a good movie. The movie pulls you out of the chair right from the very beginning. One dialogue I would like to mention and think it is true to a certain extent is "Assumption is the mother of all fuckups".
One can comfortably watch the movie more than once.

Recently I read that Toyota India will stop manufacturing their hit SUV model: Qualis. They have said that the Indian market has upgraded and people are in demand for new technologically featured models. As a replacement to Qualis they said a new model by name: "INNOVA" will be launched, in mid 2005.

I think that though the present customers have upgraded, India being a large market, there would always be some customers who wopuld be upgrading to Qualis from smaller vehicles. Though as a fact, the sales will decline, the model will have its own demand. Look at Maruti 800, there are still some people who buy this model. These customers may be new entrants or may be low profile customers.

There are some rumors that Qualis was being purchased as a commercial(taxi) vehicle than as a personal one, may be they did not want it to be looked upon as a taxi, that is why they might have stopped manufacturing it. But I feel that Toyota should still continue manufacturing Qualis.

Few days back i happened to see a hindi movie - Musafir. The theme of the movie is Sex & Violence. The whole movie is a solid three hour cleavage show. Anil kapoor looks too old to run behind girls. Sanjay dutt is ok in the usual don role. Sameera reddy has performed well and she is the cleavage girl with beautifully tanned body. The songs are quite good, jingling in your mind for few weeks.....
